Hundreds of artists from all over the world have entered the “South of France” Art Retreat competition sponsored by myartspace.com. The voting public is able to go to the site, myartspace.com and browse through thousands of pieces of art and photography and select the winner with the best art to send on a full week art retreat in St Paul de Vence, France. The competition was open for art submission until June 30th, 2006. On July 1 the voting process began. The voting process will conclude on July 14th, 2006 and winners will be announced on July 17th.

The Eye of Alfred Eisenstaedt PDF Print E-mail

A major exhibition, at the Monroe Gallery of Photography, celebrates career and life of legendary LIFE Magazine photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt (1898-1995). The exhibition opens with a public reception on July 7 from 5 - 8, and will continue through October 1.

The exhibition of more than 60 photographs features numerous classic images, several little-known gems, and never-before-exhibited photographs that are sure to surprise and intrigue. Included are historic vintage photographs – the actual prints used for LIFE magazine stories, with important archive information inscribed and stamped on the back of each photograph.

I am going to discuss some ways you should not sell you art and surprisingly enough artists still either on purpose or by accident sabotage their own sales. Again as ridiculous as some of these seem I have personally witnessed them. Although most artists have not taken business or sales marketing courses I believe that artists should make an attempt at least to learn the business aspect of selling ones art. Here are some ways to NOT sell your artwork.
