The Pang Brothers' partially sanitized remake of their own 1999 thriller is hardly philosophical. Its style and its soul are more Asian than American — and it leaves some space for contemplation between shootouts.

The worst rumors are going on about dear Doctor Watson, and I am going to lay them to rest right now.  First of all Doctor Watson is not sexist.  He thinks highly of women.  In fact, when he play tennis with a woman player, he never minds losing.  What does his attitude have to do with sexism?  Quite simply, sexist men are often threatened by an athletic woman's capabilities (because these men are insecure).  Dr. Watson likes women to live up to their potential.  And at his laboratory, women scientists have the run of labs just as the men do.  It seems to me he is for equal opportunity.

Second of all, Doctor Watson is not racist.  His research on melanin, in fact, has the potential to prove the ADVANTAGES that the African American race has over the Caucasian race.  Having healthy sexual desires is important to anybody who is not abstinent.  If melanin helps people to have a healthy sex life, perhaps without the side effects of certain drugs, there should be no opposition to Watson's research.  We already know that people with higher levels of melanin are protected against certain skin diseases. Who can imagine what other advantages there may be to having more melanin?

As for "Genes, Girls and Gamow," well yea...sex is a part of life and who is any critic to censor what James Watson writes about.  Scientists do write about sex.  Watson's experiences were a part of his journey to where he is now and if they were important to him, well then, they are important.  A talented writer will engage his (or her) readers and this is one way to do that.  Nobody wants to only read about genes.  As for the title of the book, it's very good alliteration, don't you agree?

From my own personal experience, meeting the renowned Dr. James Watson, I didn't detect a sexist or racist bone in his body.  The lies about James Watson, calling him whatever "ist" there is under the sun, are a form of slander.  What's sad is that some ignorant people will believe the slander to be true, only adding lie on top of lie.  The way he is falsely depicted, would cause people to imagine that perhaps his desk top is covered with racist and sexist doctrine.  That is so untrue; Doctor Watson is concerned about finding a cure for schizophrenia.  Literature on schizophrenia research is what covers his desk and occupies his mind.  Lots of children (and adults) suffer from this mental disorder and are desperate for a cure (including one of Doctor Watson's dear sons).  The little bit of nonsense slander being written about Watson, is a disservice to humanity.  As a scientist, James Watson's primary concern is research.  He shouldn't have to be distracted from his purpose in life to defend himself over utter nonsense!
