With the launch of BreakThru Radio (BTR) last summer, the station’s goal was simple: to play the best underground music by unsigned and independent artists. BTR DJs scoured the country looking for the most talented acts, only to discover that some of the best music is being made overseas. So as a tribute to indie music everywhere, BTR will be broadcasting its inaugural World Music Show from July 9-15, hosted by DJ Wynn.

“We have not only seen a steady rise in the number of quality music submission from bands across the world but in our international listenership as well,” said Cal Rifkin, co-founder of BTR. “BTR is devoted to giving a voice to talented, upcoming artists from both here in the United States as well as abroad.”

BTR is the fastest growing radio station on the net with a weekly audience of more than 3 million. Unlike traditional radio, BTR has no restrictions on style -- playing rock, punk, hip hop, electronica, alt-country, reggae, metal, soul, et al. It is this feature that allows BTR to develop weekly specialty shows focusing on the different musical genres, as well as music scenes from cities across the globe.

Since the inception of the BTR specialty show, more than seven million listeners have logged on to hear the most unique hour on internet radio. In addition to the World Music Show, BTR has also showcased genres and scenes such as DJ Darkside’s Heavy Metal and Rock Show, The Third Rail Indie Hip-Hop Hour, and DJ L’s In the Mix, which showcases the burgeoning Atlanta music scene.
