"Amazingly refreshing"! Thats how some people will describe the music of Carmen Michelle, an up and coming artist out of the Midwest. There is nothing mediocre about this young lady and it shows in every song. With tracks like Hold Me Again and Rock and a Hard Place, Carmen Michelle is taking Rhythm&Praise to a whole new level.

This 25 year old originally from Wisconsin will impress any ear with her incredibly moving lyrics and smooth, flawless harmonies. When asked about her talent, Carmen credits God and of course her parents for her natural musical abilities. "My Mom encouraged me at a young age to be productive musically. She would have me sit next to her on Sunday mornings at church while she played the piano and then move over and have me play. By the time I was 12, I was playing by myself for the choir"! Her diverse background also plays an important role in her sound and style. "My Father is Sicilian/German and my Mom is African-American/Cherokee. I grew up with my Father playing everything from Jimi Hendrix to Pavarotti (she was named after the opera Carmen) and my Mom playing every Gospel song known to man! Being exposed to such diverse genres led me to have great respect for music in general".

In her teens, Carmen discovered her writing skills and began producing commercial jingles. Her first was for HBO and Cinemax and was followed by numerous commercials for her hometown radio station. She then began singing background for local groups and soon became confident enough to start her solo career by opening for different acts in the Midwest. Though she sang R&B/Hip-Hop in her teens, after giving her heart to God, she felt compelled to represent Him to the fullest. "I definitely believe my music is Gospel music. Its a reflection of who I am, and what Ive been through. My songs are depictions of what happens when my circumstances meet my beliefs".
